Job Description
The CTO at Cumberland Labs will play a pivotal role in shaping the technological vision and driving the technical development of our incubated companies, both internal and external. This role demands a highly motivated and entrepreneurial individual with a deep-rooted passion for blockchain technology and a solid background in engineering and crypto trading.
Key Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership and direction for the development of blockchain-based projects.
As a business-builder the CTO must bring entrepreneurial ambition and a sense of urgency to ideating, scoping and building new products.
Manage and mentor a distributed team of developers, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
Engage with DRW/Cumberland counterparts effectively, ensuring collaboration and mutual respect.
Serve as the technical spokesperson for Cumberland Labs, representing the company in media, public discussions, and marketing efforts, while safeguarding the reputation of our partners DRW and Cumberland.
Lead efforts to build a world-class blockchain venture studio, particularly focusing on enhancing the team in India.
Proactively contribute ideas and strategies for taking startups from concept to execution (0 to 1 phase).
Oversee the technological infrastructure and ensure alignment with the company's goals and market trends.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Deep commitment to blockchain technology with proven experience, having navigated at least 1-2 bear markets in the crypto industry.
A strong background in engineering and crypto trading.
Experience in startup environments and/or early-stage business development.
Knowledge of financial markets is highly advantageous.
Ability to implement cultural and operational transformations within the team, particularly in an international context.
Respected and credible professional, capable of engaging with senior stakeholders at DRW/Cumberland.
Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage geographically distributed development teams.
Proactive, idea-driven, and adept at understanding the nuances of startup development.
Must be able to work efficiently on India timezone.
Qualifications
A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
Extensive experience in blockchain technology and crypto trading.
Demonstrated experience in a leadership role within a technology-driven organization.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Location: The majority of our technical team are located in India, so ideally in that timezone or thereabouts.
